Love in action

Love is an action word. Don’t just tell people about Christ, let them see Christ in your actions.
Let the world see the love of Christ you profess through your heart and doings.Let your actions cause people to want to know the God you serve.
If you have not shown love to the people you see.  How can you love God whom you have not seen.

The best way to show love could be a simple smile, a kind word or a simple gift.

Remember love does not hurt, it never gives up, it is patient, understanding, it never loses faith, rather it is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstances. Christ is our perfect example so, go and spread the love of Christ.

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. (John 15:13 NKJV)

The Power of Emotional Intelligence

What makes a great leader? Knowledge, smarts and vision, to be sure. To that, Daniel Goleman, author of “Leadership: The Power of Emotional Intelligence,” would add the ability to identify and monitor emotions — your own and others’ — and to manage relationships

Qualities associated with such “emotional intelligence” distinguish the best leaders in the corporate world, according to Mr. Goleman, a former New York Times science reporter, a psychologist and co-director of a consortium at Rutgers University to foster research on the role emotional intelligence plays in excellence.

He shares his short list of the competencies.

Realistic self-confidence: You understand your own strengths and limitations; you operate from competence and know when to rely on someone else on the team.

Emotional insight: You understand your feelings. Being aware of what makes you angry, for instance, can help you manage that anger.

Resilience: You stay calm under pressure and recover quickly from upsets. You don’t brood or panic. In a crisis, people look to the leader for reassurance; if the leader is calm, they can be, too.

Emotional balance: You keep any distressful feelings in check — instead of blowing up at people, you let them know what’s wrong and what the solution is.

Self-motivation: You keep moving toward distant goals despite setbacks.

Cognitive and emotional empathy: Because you understand other perspectives, you can put things in ways colleagues comprehend. And you welcome their questions, just to be sure. Cognitive empathy, along with reading another person’s feelings accurately, makes for effective communication.

Good listening: You pay full attention to the other person and take time to understand what they are saying, without talking over them or hijacking the agenda.

 Relationship Skills

Compelling communication: You put your points in persuasive, clear ways so that people are motivated as well as clear about expectations.

Team playing: People feel relaxed working with you. One sign: They laugh easily around you.

Positive habits women should develop for a healthy Heart

Image result for happy woman

You can develop, in time, the habit of keeping a positive and happy attitude. Through constant practice, you can boost the positive emotions in you to overshadow or replace the negative, self-defeating emotions. A paper published in Psychological Science discovered that a person can self-generate positive emotions that contribute to better physical health. Having said this, here are some habits that you can develop to generate  positive feelings

  1. Forgiveness – Studies show that forgiving others and yourself as well as letting go and forgetting your grudges can bring numerous benefits to your health. These advantages include decreased blood pressure, improved immune system, and lower level of the stress hormone cortisol.
  2. Thankfulness – Though a simple task, the habit of thanking others can breed health benefits. A 2003 study established a connection between praising others and a decrease in health complaints. Scientists found out that gratitude triggers neurochemicals and hormones such as serotonin and oxytocin that improve mood and boost health and wellness.
  3. Optimism – A study of a team of scientists from Harvard University and Boston University revealed that pessimistic people were more likely to acquire heart disease than the most optimistic ones.
  4. Kindness – According to Dr. David R. Hamilton, among other health benefits, acts of kindness result to healthier hearts. These acts trigger the production of the love hormone oxytocin which releases nitric oxide. Nitric oxide expands the blood vessels and reduces blood pressure.
  5. Resilience – Resilience is the emotional ability to spring back after undergoing a stressful and emotionally devastating event. Emotionally resilient people have the ability to manage stress – a key contributor in developing heart disease.
  6. Honesty – A University of Notre Dame research disclosed that telling fewer lies promotes better mental and physical health. Scientists in the research found out that honest people have fewer complaints of being tense and depressive.
  7. Compassion – A volume of studies shows that being compassionate and volunteering some of your time and skills to the less privileged can prolong your lifespan.

Your emotions deeply affect your heart. To maintain the health of your organ that symbolizes emotions, you should always practice these positive activities that breed happiness and positive feelings.
