One of the things that is responsible for spiritual stagnation is unhealthy comparison. Those who compare their spiritual lives with other people cannot experience wholesome spiritual growth.

If you spend valuable time comparing yourself with others and you begin to commend yourself for being better than some people, you will find it difficult to grow spiritually.

Paul the Apostle knew the dangers of unhealthy comparison and he warned against it.

“For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise” (2 Corinthians 10:12).

A disciple is allowed to make only one comparison: with the Master. It is only when you compare yourself with the Lord, Jesus Christ that you will experience spiritual growth!
