And everyone that was in distress, in debt and was discontented gathered themselves into David, and he became a captain over them (1 Samuel 22:2)

God uses the weak things of this world to confound the strong. No matter how weak, base and disqualified a person feels towards the work of God. Those kind of people are needed in God’s work. Men and women who sees God’s work as a privilege. For not many wise, Noble, intellectual and educated men are called, but people who sees themselves as the least among saints, but by God’s grace are what they are today.

1 Corinthians 1:28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence

And everyone✍✍

God called an unlikely and unique group to David in the Adullam cave. These were not the men David would choose for himself, but they were the ones God called to him.

These men were in distress. Their own lives weren’t easy all together. They were in anguish and in pain, yet they trusted God to heal them from it

These men were in debt. They hadn’t seen a lot of success in the past, and were stung from their past failures. They had problems of their own, they were in financial crises, yet they didn’t settle for an average life. Because they knew what it means to be a labourer in God’s vineyard

These men were discontented. The Hebrew word for discontented means bitter of soul. They knew the bitterness of life, and they were not satisfied with their lives or with King Saul. They wanted something different, and something better, and God called them to David at the Adullam cave.

These men came to David in distress, in debt, and discontented, but they didn’t stay that way. David made them into the kind of men described in 1 Chronicles 12:8: Mighty men of valor, men trained for battle, who could handle the shield and spear, whose faces were like the faces of lions, and were as swift as gazelles on the mountains.

The job of every leader is to transform followers into leaders, and leaders into agents of transformation.

And David became a leader over them✍✍🙇🏼‍♂️

Leadership is the key to human perservation, growth, and change. No matter what condition a society or nation finds itself in, it didn’t arrive there by accident. Someone left them there. Because leaders determine the direction, security and prosperity of cultures societies and nation.

-Nothing happens without leadership

  • Nothing succeeds or improves without leadership
  • Nothing is altered or transformed without leadership
  • Nothing develops or advances without leadership

Here was a team that needed a leader, and David became captain over them. God doesn’t work through mobs. He works through called men and women, but He also calls others to stand with and support those men and women.

David was the one anointed by God to be the next king over Israel, and he became Israel’s greatest earthly king. But just as much as God called David, God called these four hundred to come beside David.

God is indeed the Lord of the harvest. He is the one who recruits labourers into His vineyard.

Heaven is still in search for LEADERS.
