“And the Angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, ‘The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.'”Judges 6:12 (KJV)Gideon was a man who was chosen by GOD from a generation whose heart was far away from GOD. Gideon was an ordinary man but with an extra ordinary annointing call from GOD.
The name Gideon, means ‘great warrior’ or ‘one who cuts down’. The Angel of the LORD appeared to Gideon and said ,”The Lord is with you, mighty man of valour.”Why was a person, who was afraid of his enemy, called a man of valour? The word valour means some one very bold and courageous to face the enemy.Heaven has a testimony about each one of us and that is based on our true potential. It is not about how we think about ourselves, it does not count how we react in any given situation, but it is about what we can do when GOD’s hand is upon us—a testimony of what Jesus has done in our lives!
In the midst of our present situation, do we realize our potential? Many times we are so unaware of our abilities. In the midst of a problem we tend to underestimate GOD’s added value in our lives. When we are depressed we often forget how precious we are in the eyes of God. We forget the immense power the Holy Spirit has implanted within us to become more than conquerors.
All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
GOD likes to call us all Mighty men and women of valour! Today, if He calls and commissions you to proclaim something that you consider as a mission beyond your capacity, do not hesitate to say “
Be of great confidence because GOD knows your true potential. He will not allow you to be embarrassed in front of your enemy, but will make you more than conquerors! Gideon had many excuses when he was called by God.
But when the power of GOD came upon him, he did mighty things and saved the people of Israel out of bondage. In Judges 7, Gideon faces the enemy.Gideon gathers 32,000 men, but GOD says, “The people who are with you are too many.”Gideon decreased the number of men to 10,000, but GOD says, “
“The people who are with you are still too many.”GOD chose the men. He chose 300!Maybe, at times, you feel you’re outnumbered by your problems. But with GOD on your side, you outpower your problems!“If GOD be for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31
