For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11. Have you ever attempted to give advice or help to a friend or family member, only to receive this phrase from them, “I know?”After several different occasions of attempting to help and then only to receive, “I know,” you begin to feel like it’s not worth the effort to try to help because, we say of them:
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” (Proverbs 14:12)
He doesn’t give up. He’ll keep trying to advise us, to correct us, to protect us, and to instruct us. No, He’ll never give up! “Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:” (John 16:7,8)Especially when we say, “I know,” that must upset Him! His word says, “Let the wicked man forsake his own way and the unrighteous man his own thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that He may have compassion, and to our GOD, for He will freely pardon. ‘For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so My ways are higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.’” (Isaiah 55:7-9)GOD knows the best way for us.
